Approach the
Holy of Holies

Some seem to think it is possible approach the Holy of Holies by their own efforts, but this is not scriptural.

There was no separation of God and man until the fall of Adam and Eve. God apparently visited them regularly, perhaps daily, and walked and talked with them in the Garden of Eden, can you imagine?

Many don't realize what a big deal it was when Adam and Eve sinned. They not only were separated from God but caused everyone since to be born without God.

As you know the Holy of Holies was where the Ark of the Covenant was kept, and where only the High Priest was allow to enter. Upon Jesus' death, not only did the graves open, terrible earthquakes, storms and lightning, but also ...the veil of the temple that separated man from God was rent from top to bottom signifying the end of separation of God and man.

The Holy of Holies is now considered by most theologians to be in Heaven at the very throne of God the Son, and God the Father.

14"Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess." "16Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." (Heb 4:14 & 16)

Jesus is our great high priest. We are told that it is not possible by our efforts, but only through what He did on the cross that we can enter the Holy of Holies and speak personally with God our Father.

In Psa 100:4 we are to told how to approach the throne of God. "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise." (It does not say by praise or by thanksgiving) as if this would make it possible. Jesus has already made it possible for us to approach the throne. This tells us to glorify Him as we enter His awesome presence WITH thanksgiving and praise for having made it possible for us to enter.

As I enter into my prayer time I often see my self as entering the gates of Heaven with thanksgiving that Jesus has made it possible, as I draw nearer to the throne I begin to offer up praise for all His awesome love, power and glory.

We can not enter the Holy of Holies by our own efforts, but through faith in Christ we are free to approach the Holy of Holies, the very presence of God.

Blessings,

Samuel Mills
