In Memeory of My Husband Charles Byrge
"The Greatest Gift Ever"
God is so good! I guess in the years that I was married to Charles, I assumed he was a Christian. Whenever he was asked, he would respond with "I'm a member of such and such church."
On Christmas 1994 I was led to give devotional books to the men in the family. Charles especially was delighted. He not only read the devotion to me each morning but also read through the Old Testament that year.
On December 2, 1995 he announced to me that he had made Jesus the Lord of his life. I wrote this down in my journal.
He went home to be with his Lord the following March 1996. I am so glad that I was obedient to the prompting of the dear Holy Spirit that preceding Christmas. The saving of one's soul is the greatest gift ever.

Out of My Bone: the Letters and Autobiography of Joy Davidman
By Edited by Don W. King / Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Co.
Letters have a way of revealing a person's spirit and personality more than straightforward biographical facts and figures. This is especially true of Joy Davidman, who late in life married C.S. "Jack" Lewis. Out of My Bone, edited by Don W. King presents a unqiue portrait of the woman who captured Lewis' heart. Her letters to friends, her first husband, Jack and family reveal her keen wit, critical mind and poetic soul. A must read for fans of Davidman's writing, or those inpsired by Joy and Jack's devotion. Includes her autobiographical essay "The Longest Way Round."
