"Elohim"

"Elohim" (El-oh-heem) or "Elohay" is the first name for God found in the bible, and is used over 2300 times throughout the bible. The name Elohim is unusual in that it is of plural form, but is used to describe one God. It's Hebrew root meaning is "strength" or "power."

WE read in Genesis 1:1 that Elohim created the heaven and the earth. The plural form for the name of god is used in the very first verse of the bible. This mystery is progressively uncovered throughout the bible and is often referred to as the "Trinity" - "God the Father," "God the Son," and "God he Holy Spirit"

The name "Elohim" is used throughout scripture in combination with other words to describe certain characteristics of God, and when seen in that sense, a seemingly endless number of names of God.
